Henderson Builders Limited was established in April 1983. At seventeen years of age, founder Scott Henderson had nothing more than a high school diploma, an RBC $2,000 Student Venture Capital Loan and a heart full of ambition. With a focus on the residential roofing market, Henderson Roofing Systems was born.
As the company grew, so did the possibilities. In 1987, the company became more involved in new builds and by 1994 the name was changed to Henderson Builders Limited to reflect the new direction and growing expertise.
In 1995, Henderson Builders began securing design and build contracts, further expanding their range of knowledge and know-how. Our earliest projects included a picnic shelter at Sarnia Bay Marina, as well as a new retail and warehouse building in Point Edward, Ontario.
By 2002, Henderson Builders began a relationship with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), securing contracts to build and renovate casinos across the province. This experience and connection enabled us to pre-qualify for many public tender projects such as school renovations and public facility construction.
In 2004, nearly twenty-one years to day of their inception, Henderson Builders moved from their Lougar Avenue location to a newly renovated office complex at 753 Evett Street in Sarnia, Ontario. Under Scott’s leadership, the decision was made to do more work with in-house crews in order to keep quality standards high, and to ensure competitive pricing for our customers.
As the global culture changed to include more green building and environmentally-friendly construction, by 2006 we were determined to play our part. By doing our own site servicing and excavating, as well as sewer and water main construction for various municipal projects, we were able to better control environmental impact. During that time, we also began full concrete forming and flat work services, participating in various industrial, commercial and institutional projects.
In 2009, a deal was negotiated to purchase assets from Nordell Excavating Limited. Many of the Nordell staff joined Henderson Builders’ team and have since helped boost their capacity for sewer, water main and road construction.
A decision was made to discontinue the sewer, watermain and road construction side of the business in order to return to our core business strength and passion for building homes and all types of commercial buildings.
After making the strategic decision to focus greater on new custom home builds and commercial buildings, Scott decided to refresh the Henderson Builders brand to evolve alongside the company’s new focus. The re-brand included a new logo, new website and the introduction of the new slogan “Your Vision. Our Commitment”. To further market their high-quality, custom homes, the homes are now marketed under Henderson Luxury Homes.
